With a gentle touch...

...I said I love you to my grandma for the last time, running my thumb lightly across her forehead with tears in my eyes.  My brother and I drove down to Lynchburg to spend a couple of hours with grandma, my mom, and moms twin brother in from Utah.

Before I could even get into the second sentence of writing this blog post, my mom called.  Grandma has passed.  Arrangements will be made tomorrow.

I'm so sorry. I remember how hard it was for me when my grandma passed even though we knew it was coming for over a year.

What surprised my was when my mom, #3 of 12, said she was now an orphan.

Dear Kelly

Sorry about the loss of your Grandma. From what I've read here, what a wonderful person and she was certainly well loved. Glad you were able to see her over the holidays, and had the chance to say goodbye. Your Grandma reminded me a lot of my own. Thank you for writing about her.

Sorry to post this as Anonymous, and I wanted to include my email, but none of the other options fit. I've enjoyed your blog for some time. Guess I will have to open a gmail account so I can comment in the future.

My best to you, Jeff and your family.
