Anywho... Today I ventured to out of my typical territory for my job and it landed me in Southwest Virginia and my old stomping grounds of my college days in the mountains...
I got on the road early today and you can see a slight change in the leaves as I make my way west past Charlottesville... though I drove many many more miles today, I did it in about the same time it takes me to get to and around DC...
Just me, a bit stoked about heading to Radford... home of Radford University... where I spent several years getting drunk an education... man, the area has changed a TON... new roads, old hangouts demolished... many many new buildings... school was looking good... did not see many students though... I think I hit during class... which was nice, so they did not see this old fart in a tie taking pics on campus...
This is Muse Hall... I lived on the fourth floor (much like my fourth place ranking in the contest)... my freshman year at Radford... at the time (and maybe still)... the 13 story structure was the tallest building in Virginia west of Roanoke... it housed 900 students, mainly freshmen... and I cannot tell you how many fire alarms were set off that year... and it really is an ugly building... and that damn clock chimes all the time... not good for hangovers...
If you can get past my chin shot... the building over my shoulder is the library... they did not serve alcohol there, so I rarely visited the place... I think I went there more for research after I graduated and became a reporter for the NBC affiliate there and had to do a story on the school going co-ed in the 70's... I hate when I make more chins than I really have....
Anyway... after my meeting down the road from my college... I headed through Salem, VA for another meeting then through Lynchburg (said howdy to my dad) and then home... I logged well over 400 miles today... great meetings and a little trip down memory lane to boot... woo hoo...
Though I am a bit upset at my current ranking on the Mr. Gay.com contest... I really do appreciate all of you who have spent hours on end voting for me and also making mention of me on your blogs and getting friends to vote... if you keep it up and let me know in a comment here what you did... you might get a nice little response in honor of HNT... hmmmm... think about it (and make sure your email addy is filled in)....
(and I have not been to the gym in over a week... I am bad... feeling bad about it... must make effort to go tomorrow... I did get another kind of workout tonite though... I mean nap... tee hee)
